Physiotherapy for Pain and Injuries

Pain and injury can shrink your world, and make it impossible for you to run like you used to, to pick up your kids, or to spend hours at your desk without pain. At Found Physiotherapy, we want to help you understand what’s actually going wrong, treat it properly, and get you back to moving freely.

We see patients across East London with everything from sudden sports injuries, to post-surgical rehab, to everyday aches that build up over time.

Treat the cause, not just the symptoms

The site of your pain isn’t always the source of your pain. Knee pain often starts at the hip. A stiff lower back can come from how your rib cage moves when you breathe. Shoulder trouble can be caused by the way you sit at a desk eight hours a day.

That’s why our assessments are global rather than local. We look at how your whole body moves, not just the bit that hurts. Without that bigger picture, it’s easy to chase the symptom in circles while the real problem goes untreated.

What a course of treatment looks like

Your first session is where we get to know you and your body. Expect a thorough conversation about your history and goals, a physical assessment, and, where appropriate, the first round of hands-on treatment. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what’s going on and a plan for what’s next.

Follow-up sessions combine hands-on work (including soft tissue release, joint mobilisation, and fascial techniques) with progressive exercises tailored to your stage of recovery. We’ll film you doing your exercises and send the videos to your phone, so you’ve got a reliable reference between appointments.

As you progress, your plan changes with you. Early sessions focus on calming pain and restoring basic function; later sessions build strength, resilience and the confidence to return fully to what you love doing. We check in, adjust, and make sure you’re progressing towards your goals.

Physiotherapy for runners and active people

Ulika is a runner herself and treats a steady stream of runners from across Hackney, people training around Victoria Park, London Fields, the Marshes, and Regent’s Canal, whether building up to their first Hackney Half or trying to get a PB at the London Marathon. Whether you’re dealing with a niggle you can’t shake, a recurring injury, or gearing up for your longest run and wanting to stay ahead of problems, we can help.

We treat all the common running injuries: runner’s knee, ITB syndrome, shin splints, Achilles and plantar issues, stress-related pain. We also work with cyclists, climbers, swimmers, weightlifters, and anyone whose training matters to them. Treatment is built around keeping you moving wherever possible, not sidelining you for weeks.

Post-surgical rehab

Before opening Found Physiotherapy, Ulika spent several years working in hospital settings, treating patients through the early stages of recovery after major surgery. That experience means she’s comfortable working alongside surgical protocols, including after joint replacements, ACL reconstructions, arthroscopies, and spinal procedures. She knows when to push progress and when to hold back.

If you’ve been discharged from hospital physio but don’t feel you’re where you want to be, or you want a more tailored course of rehab than the NHS can offer, we can help.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist?

No. You can book directly with us, no referral needed. If you’re claiming back through insurance, your insurer may have their own referral requirements, so it’s worth checking with them first.

Something comfortable you can move in, and that allows us to see the area we’re treating. Shorts are ideal for lower limb issues, a vest top for shoulder or neck problems.

Some techniques involve pressure or movement that can be uncomfortable, but nothing we do should feel alarming, and we’ll always check in. You’re in charge of what happens to your body.

Almost always, yes, but the kind and amount of exercise might need adjusting. We’ll talk you through exactly what’s helpful and what to hold off on.

We usually have availability within the week.
